Euthanasia is only used as a last resort, when a kitty's health condition is beyond improvement. The most effective path to no-kill includes a combination of (1) collaborative partnerships and coalitions among animal shelters, animal rescue groups and community members working toward a collective goal (2) proven programs and best practices designed to save the most lives possible and (3) data-driven decision-making for each individual com. We have no time limit on a kitty's stay with us. Come and visit us during Open House on the following days and times: Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Our wish being that as many kitties as possible may know a safe and happy home rather than an untimely demise. Safe Haven for Animals was started in late 2004 as a non-profit, no-kill shelter. These designated ward rooms are utilized for sick cats, and cats awaiting veterinary approval to be put out for adoption.We believe every cat deserves a safe, nurturing home. The building also houses designated quarantine, isolation, holding and exam room areas. Small Miracles Cat & Dog Rescue is a private, nonprofit, no-kill shelter dedicated to providing the best possible care and finding forever homes for as many. In addition, we have 3 smaller indoor only adoption rooms that we utilize as necessary. At any one time, each adoption room generally houses 8-10 cats. Our current facility houses 10 adoption rooms that are cageless, and have an indoor-outdoor (contained) concept. Today, Simply Cats Adoption Center shelters over 100 cats and kittens and operates due to the hard work of a small staff and over 100 dedicated volunteers. Thanks to generous donors, Maureen Howe and Dick & Yvonne Lierz, by 2007, a new state of the art building was constructed, donated and has been our home ever since. By 2005, the name of the shelter was changed to Simply Cats Adoption Center to reflect its feline-only animal population.
